10 things meme

miss_noma tagged me, so I have to reveal ten little known and weird things about me.
Hmm, some things are little known because I don't want to reveal them.
Then there are one or two that miss_t_ide might not want me to tell.

1) Like miss_noma I hate, loathe and detest rice pudding.

2) Paul Erdös wrote a paper with two guys who, together, wrote a paper with someone who wrote a paper with some who wrote a paper with my supervisor and I wrote a paper with him.

3) G.H.Hardy supervised my PhD supervisor's supervisor's supervisor.

4) The London Mathematical Society give a number of prizes to distinguished mathematicians. One of these is in honour of Albrecht Fröhlich, with whom I share an undergraduate tutor (Prof John Sheperdson).

5) The Maris Piper potato, and its sisters the Maris Bard and Maris Peer, were bred across the road from me, in the plant breeding institute off Maris Lane.
My parent's local nursery bred Webb's wonderful lettuce - now often replaced by the iceberg.

6) I've been down an olympic bobsleigh run in a bob with wheels, and an olympic ski run on skis.

7) I've skied home from the ski slope - in England.

8) I didn't ski abroad between 1981 and 2001, but skied on snow in two new continents in 2005.

9) I'm a qualified trampoline coach - though possibly lapsed.

10)I wasn't terrified of climbing a 140ft rock pinnacle, dangling from a rope to get to a second pinnacle, then abseiling down, but I hadn't the courage to brave the night club that evening.
