Live Journal spam

I allow anonymous comments on my journal: this is fundamental to my view of how the internet and my journal should be. I've just received about my fifth spam comment - a multi-level marketing thing on my River River post, and I was getting quite annoyed. Fortunately LiveJournal will let me screen anonymous comments (from the Manage Comment Settings) so I should be able to keep my open access policy without my journal showing spam.

...but there are limits to the openness of my journal

Having complained about spam interfering with my open journal policy I now find it tested again. I posted a link to something discussed in the pub last night. After prompting by miss_t_ide I've decided that it would be irresponsible to leave the link public.
